Equal Opportunity Charter.
Our commitment to treating everyone who learns with us, buys from us or works with us fairly, and how we check we live up to it.
Our commitment
Elearnment Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17458288). We provide online training under the Good Food Hygiene brand, at goodfoodhygiene.co.uk.
Food businesses run on people from every background, speaking every language. Everyone who works in them deserves training they can understand, afford and complete, and to be treated with respect while they do. We commit to equal opportunity for everyone who learns with us, buys from us, works with us or supplies us.
We will not discriminate against anyone because of the characteristics protected by the Equality Act 2010:
- age
- disability
- gender reassignment
- marriage and civil partnership
- pregnancy and maternity
- race, including colour, nationality and ethnic or national origin
- religion or belief
- sex
- sexual orientation
We go further than the law requires wherever we reasonably can.
For learners
- Language should not be a barrier. Course content is available in English and 14 other languages. Certificates are issued in English so that any UK employer or inspector can read and verify them.
- Everyone can start. Every course has a free practice version, so people can try the real content before paying.
- Everyone learns at their own pace. Courses are self-paced, assessments have no time limit, and learners can revisit lessons whenever they like.
- Accessible by design. Learners can enlarge text, switch to dark mode and turn off animation, courses work on phones, tablets and computers, and images are described for screen readers.
- Reasonable adjustments are available for anyone who needs them — see our Reasonable Adjustments Policy.
- The same standard for everyone. Every learner sits assessments of the same standard, marked the same way, with the same pass mark.
In our course content
- We use examples, names and situations that reflect the range of people who work in UK food businesses.
- We avoid stereotypes in words and images.
- Our Equality, Diversity & Inclusion course teaches the Equality Act 2010 in practical terms.
- Every course is checked for inclusive language and images as part of our Course Content Review Policy.
For people who work with us
- Recruitment, pay, training and progression are based on ability and fairness, never on a protected characteristic.
- We make reasonable adjustments for colleagues who need them.
- Harassment, bullying and victimisation are not tolerated, and anyone can raise a concern without fear of being treated worse for doing so.
For customers and suppliers
- We offer the same prices, terms and service to every customer.
- We expect the businesses we work with to treat people fairly, and we will reconsider working with any that do not.
Personal information
We ask individual learners for their gender and date of birth only so that a certificate can be matched to the right person when it is verified. We never use them to make decisions about anyone’s learning, results or access.
Raising a concern
If you believe you have been treated unfairly, tell us at enquiries@goodfoodhygiene.co.uk. We handle it under our Complaints Policy, and nobody will be treated less favourably for raising a concern in good faith.
Checking we live up to it
The Director reviews complaints, appeals, adjustment requests and learner feedback at least every three months for any sign that some people are being treated less fairly than others, and acts on what they find.
Responsibility and review
The Director of Elearnment Ltd is responsible for this charter. Everyone who works with us is expected to follow it. It is reviewed every year.
