About this policy

Elearnment Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17458288). We provide online training under the Good Food Hygiene brand, at goodfoodhygiene.co.uk. A disability, a health condition or a learning difficulty should never stop someone completing our training. This policy explains what we already do for every learner, what extra adjustments you can ask for, and how to ask.

We follow the Equality Act 2010, which requires reasonable adjustments to remove disadvantages disabled people face. We apply the same approach to anyone with a temporary injury, illness or other circumstance that affects their learning.

Built in for every learner

You do not need to ask for any of these:

• No time limits. Assessments are untimed, and there is no minimum time you must spend on a lesson.
• Your own pace. Courses are self-paced, you can stop and return whenever you like, and you can revisit any lesson you have finished.
• Text size. The course player lets you choose from three text sizes.
• Dark mode for learners who find a dark screen easier to read.
• Less movement. If your device is set to reduce motion, the course player respects it.
• Screen reader support. Images and diagrams have text descriptions, and important messages are announced.
• Any device. Courses work on phones, tablets and computers, so you can use the device and settings that suit you, including your own accessibility tools.
• 15 languages. Course content is available in English and 14 other languages.
• Try before you pay. Every course has a free practice version with unlimited attempts.

Adjustments you can ask for

• Extra assessment attempts, if a disability or condition affected an attempt.
• Longer course access, or a pause in your access period, for example during illness or treatment.
• Course materials in another format, such as large print.
• Help using the website or your account, by email.
• Another way to contact us, if email is difficult for you.
• Anything else that would remove a barrier — tell us what would help and we will consider it seriously.

What we cannot change

A certificate tells an employer or inspector that a person has met a set standard, so some things stay the same for everyone:

• the pass mark of 80%
• what each course teaches and assesses

Adjustments change how you access and take the course, not the standard you need to reach.

How to ask

Email enquiries@goodfoodhygiene.co.uk, ideally before you start the course, although you can ask at any time. Tell us:

• which course you are taking
• what makes the course difficult for you
• what you think would help, if you know

You do not have to give a diagnosis or medical evidence for most requests. We may ask a few questions so we can get the adjustment right.

If you have a business account through your employer, your employer can ask on your behalf, with your agreement.

What happens next

• We reply within 5 working days with what we can do.
• If we cannot make the adjustment you asked for, we explain why and offer an alternative where one exists.
• You can appeal any decision under our Appeals Policy.

Your information

Details about a disability or health condition are sensitive. We use them only to arrange your adjustment, share them only with the people who need to know, and delete them 12 months after your course access ends. This is covered by our Data Protection Policy. We never mention an adjustment on a certificate.

Checking it works

The Director reviews adjustment requests at least every three months. When the same need comes up more than once, we look at building a solution into the course for everyone.

Responsibility and review

The Director of Elearnment Ltd is responsible for this policy. It is reviewed every year, and whenever we change the course player or assessments.
